The MGM Grand is the hotel that my parents got married in.
At some point, it became Bally’s.
I couldn’t find it under either name since it’s now the Reno Hilton. Hmm.
We’ll try again at the goodie bag… (I just want to have a good excuse to go to Target!!)
Can you name the big store that was like a Tarzhay that my first Cabbage Doll came from (circa 1982)?
By the way, her name was Melina.
ETA: The winner is J.J.! Melina was bought at Zody’s
Good guesses, ladies. I totally forgot about Fedco and Best! I don’t know what Children’s Palace is- maybe they were a midwest chain?

I remember standing in line with all the other obsessed people at Best … you had to place your order and then wait in the merchandise room and it came down a conveyor belt! Don’t know if that is the answer or not! My first cabbage patch was a little short blond haired, blue eyed cutie named Wanda Jean. More followed, unfortunately… I even had TWIN boys that were astronauts! Isn’t that a hoot! I am in search of the cutest asian one now… they are harder to find, and when I do it doesn’t have a cute outfit on. Eventually I’ll find one… I have time! She just likes light sabers right now!
I remember being on the “waiting list” for adoption of my first cabbage patch, because the demand for the dolls was crazy! Obsessed and crazed people at Best, yes I remember that well too.
I’m going to guess Zody’s.
or Fedco.
Did you have a Children’s Palace or a Gold Circle? My cabbage patch kid’s name was Harold Vinnie and he was a baseball player:)
KMart? Cabbage Patches were “way too immature for me, Mom”! They came along as I was moving on to bigger and better things. At that point, I hated it when my sister asked if I wanted to play dolls in front of all my friends. Oh, what a funny life we lead!
It was Zody’s! Nice, J! I’ll send some goodies up to you this week
And Cindy, you may remember Teddy Ruxpin? That was my parents version of trying to keep me in kindergarten- they gave it to me in second grade and his pal Grubby when I was in fourth grade- I always tease them now.I was way passed that!
I’m going to guess Fred Meyer, lovingly known as Freddies. I don’t know if they’re down in California, but in Oregon that’s where we all shopped “back then.” My family was so dirt poor at that time. My Uncle gave me my cabbage patch doll for a birthday. I remember he also gave them to my sister and cousin who were there and I thought, “It’s MY birthday, why are they getting presents?” Selfish me. Selfish me.
Will I never live down Ole’ Teddy “R”.
i have no clue?! LOL But I still have my 2 babies… they have been affectionately played with by swarms of Kindergarteners to this day.
I figured why not? And you don’t need a good excuse to go to Target really, do you? I mean the $1 spot is all I need as an excuse, right?! LOL : )
My guess is Gemco
I’m going to have to guess Children’s Palace, too.
My CP kid was named Frances Adrena, and I still have her : ) (Though she isn’t out or anything… just tucked safely into a storage box downstairs)
YAY for me! Now which Zody’s was it??
