On Possible Reasons Why My Head is Numb

Two nights ago, I began to have some major pain concentrated in the lower part of my head where the base of my skull meets my neck. A bump has appeared and it measures about the size of a half-dollar (but, the other side of my head has the same bump, so I’m not going off that). I thought it might be a headache, but when I took some Aleve and woke up with the same problem, I wondered what could be causing the pain in my nape. Well, tonight, the pain has spread and half my head is numb. I am not dizzy nor do I feel faint, but what’s a girl to do? I visited the Web MD (shh.. my regular MD will not be happy to hear about this unplanned visit where I try to diagnose my own symptoms).

After reading countless threads on the web, here are a few things that could possibly be wrong with me:

  • I have Paget’s Disease with some minor bone deformation causing my head to be abnormally sized (maybe those hats will come in use after all)
  • I have infected lymph nodes
  • My first guess was a tumor, but Andy assured me that bumps like that don’t grow in a day
  • I could have a pinched nerve
  • I am overstressed and the tension is concentrating in that part of my body

I am off to combat the pain with some rest and relaxation and am calling the real life doctor tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I think it could be a pinched nerve. Stress is always a big factor too, stress does awful things to me. Let us know. Feel better soon.

Susie!!! Seriously. You have worried (and scared) friends now. Sheesh. Hopefully the numbness won’t spread to your fingers, too. If it does, make Andy update the blog, okay? =^) I’m sure I’m not alone saying I will pray for wisdom for your doctor.

sounds like some major stress. Isn’t it awful how it sneaks up on us and assults us physically? It’s bad enough to feel the pressure of it and feel zapped of energy.

    Love,
    Dr. Cindy :0)

Darling, I’m sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I’m guessing it’s the swollen lymph’s. Aleve should have helped if it was anything else. I look forward to hearing back to see what the Doc says.

I am pretty sure it is a pinched nerve. Due to tense muscles from stress pinching the nerve in between. Forget the dr. get yourself a massage!

    Oh dear, dearie…

I’m sorry. And eager to hear what is going on.

I immediately go to the tumor story whenever I have head pain. I think it’s from the little kid in Kindergarten Cop who always says “Maybe it’s a tumor.” And then Arnold says “It’s not a tumor.” But I’m weird, so don’t mind me.

Hope you’re feeling better very soon.

    Smooch your little numb head…
