Announcement

Catchlight Photography is currently booked through February 2010 and won’t be able to take any new clients in the Dayton area due to our impending move this spring. Thank you for the fantastic opportunities, Dayton clients!

What’s a post without a photo? Here’s a budding little reader I had the opportunity to capture in my studio last month:

Isn’t Baby E just a cutie? I think so!

Please feel free to contact me for local photographer suggestions.

Buca di Beppo aka Family Style | Dayton Family and Children Photography

When I arrived at the park on Saturday, a melodic form of opera music was playing quite loudly from the vehicle housing this bunch. I had no idea that they were closet opera lovers, or that the background music was exactly what we needed to kick of a great session. The music blaring from the speakers reminded me of one of my favorite {gaudy} Italian restaurants that serves food family style- enough for nine per plate, I think. Therefore, this family is being referred to here as Buca di Beppo… Too bad Dayton doesn’t have any BdB’s, but maybe the next time we get to Columbus or Cincinnati, I can get my fill!

And Pei Wei. Oh, I miss Pei Wei. But I digress.

Check out this bunch working it up for the camera:

Aren’t they good lookin’?

Just Us Girls | Dayton Children and family Photography

This trio met me at a nearby park last Sunday for some updated shots of just the girls. Because these girls are our neighbors and friends, it was very kick back and playful session. And really, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fall afternoon, crisp air and colorful leaves to play in. DOes life get much better than this? Well, maybe if we have some hot apple cider, too :)

Enjoy your sneak peek- thank you for waiting so patiently for it, S!

Shake Your Tutu Debuts | Dayton Children and Toddler Photographer

Who doesn’t love little girls wearing tutus? Shake Your Tutus is opening its doors and making its debut into the world of tutus of all seasons this next week, and I was lucky enough to see first hand the variety of tutus that grandmaster tutu maker Tracy will have available.

Three tutus that are sure to be hits for the month of October is the “Hope” Tutu* with part of the proceeds going to breast cancer awareness:

The “GO Buckeyes” red and silver tutu that are already popular with the Ohio State crowd:

And the “Hallowe’en” Tutu that will surely bring many treats this festive season. Adorable, right? I know.

The Face of Four | Outdoor Children Photography Dayton, OH

My second daughter recently had a birthday (oaky, nevermind it was 6 weeks ago and we still have party decorations up), and we finally got out to take some fresh pictures for the grandma’s walls this past weekend. She loves this petticoat skirt. I love her in it. Before long, she won’t want to have anything to do with it, so I’ll soak it up as long as I can.

Christian Artist | Head shot and Lifestyle Photography, Dayton, OH

I have met an amazing songwriter and singer at my church over the past 9 months- Jennifer Jolene is an up and coming Christian artist with some musical talent in her! We had a great time capturing some shots for her music page- keep an eye out for this one, I can’t wait to see where the Lord will take her and her beautiful spirit!

Hands down, favorite shot of the evening- I love what my 70-200mm f/2.8 whips up with creamy sunset light.

Thanks for a fun evening, Jenn! Best wishes with your singing and songwriting career :)

Welcome to the World, Baby Boy! | Dayton Newborn & Baby Photography

Mama contacted me on Friday with a brand new one-week-old baby boy at home looking to get some newborn pictures done. I love that my husband can be flexible with Saturday shoots and I happily agreed to do Baby N’s shoot Saturday afternoon.

How precious is this little guy?

He looks so happy in the basket, doesn’t he? We took about twenty frames, I think he might have blinked here!

Here’s a favorite- I just love this plaid outfit he’s wearing. In case you were wondering, browns and blues photograph very well, I think. Especially on sleepy newborns.

Mom and Dad are smitten- and doing very well considering they are brand new parents!

Here’s the good lookin’ family one last time:

Thank you for the opportunity to be your photographer during such a special time in your life, S & S :) Congratulations, again!

A Nice Spring Day in Dayton | Children & Family Photography Dayton, OH

It was so refreshing to be outside shooting in the sunshine again this past weekend. There is a darling little garden in an older part of Dayton that  I’ve quickly grown fond up- and the daffodils just recently bloomed there greeting this family with color. Little S wasn’t sure about me, but we were getting along fine with smiles after awhile.

Thank you for the opportunity to capture you all, “C” Family :)

Small Spaces, Big Personalities | Dayton Children and Dayton Family Photography

Such a fun-loving bunch that came to visit my studio this past weekend! When Mom and I discussed what she was hoping for in a studio session, she mentioned that natural shots were more than okay for her party of five. Good thing, these kiddos have some big personalities, I loved it!

This is just a little behind the scenes out take- I was trying to set the kids up for a three in a row shot, but the kids all kind of did their own thing. Never mind that the stools or colors don’t match, & the heights of the heads are off by feet, I just love how full of life this capture of all three of them is:

Thank you for the opportunity to be your photographer, “C” Family!!
