Announcement

Catchlight Photography is currently booked through February 2010 and won’t be able to take any new clients in the Dayton area due to our impending move this spring. Thank you for the fantastic opportunities, Dayton clients!

What’s a post without a photo? Here’s a budding little reader I had the opportunity to capture in my studio last month:

Isn’t Baby E just a cutie? I think so!

Please feel free to contact me for local photographer suggestions.

Baby {A} | Dayton Newborn Photographer

Our friends welcomed their third daughter, sweet Baby A, just about a month ago. She is well loved by her big sisters and family, it was such a treat to meet her so fresh and new at home, and capture such gentle moments among sisters.

Little Women | Dayton Family Photographer, Dayton Children Photographer

I met these sweet young ladies at Cox Arboretum this weekend to capture a surprise to put under their folk’s tree this coming Christmas. The girls’ ability to smile on demand was impressive, but I was most moved by their relationship that was beaming with friendship. I  am so out of order with this sneak peeks, but I couldn’t resist this first shot that they indulged me with:

Here’s some crafty cropping to get head shots of these sisters in one collage. I could use some practice with head shots apparently, but these gals are perfect at them!

Thank you, Ladies, for the privilege to capture you and be a part of a really cool surprise. I can only hope my own girls will be as thoughtful as you are in years to come!

Future Boilermaker | Dayton Baby Photographer, Dayton Family Photographer

This sweet family visited my studio on Sunday and after a short bout with baskets and slobbery grey paper, we headed out to the wild fields just around the corner. But first, the requested shot of the day- Baby N with his 6 month chubs. Isn’t he a little cutie?

The studio is fun and all, but it was such a beautiful afternoon to catch some shots of this little guy and his parents who are absolutely 100 % smitten with him. S.M.I.T.T.E.N.

I like to think of this shot as the “Save Me” pose- perhaps if Baby N could talk, he might be saying “Save me from this bumbo in the weeds, Mama! Save me from the crazy lady behind that black thing in my face, Mama!”

Buca di Beppo aka Family Style | Dayton Family and Children Photography

When I arrived at the park on Saturday, a melodic form of opera music was playing quite loudly from the vehicle housing this bunch. I had no idea that they were closet opera lovers, or that the background music was exactly what we needed to kick of a great session. The music blaring from the speakers reminded me of one of my favorite {gaudy} Italian restaurants that serves food family style- enough for nine per plate, I think. Therefore, this family is being referred to here as Buca di Beppo… Too bad Dayton doesn’t have any BdB’s, but maybe the next time we get to Columbus or Cincinnati, I can get my fill!

And Pei Wei. Oh, I miss Pei Wei. But I digress.

Check out this bunch working it up for the camera:

Aren’t they good lookin’?

Bonded | Dayton Kids, Children and Family Photographer

(can you see these images? they are so tiny!)

What a blessing it was for me to capture this sweet family on Saturday at Hills & Dales Metro Park. Their interaction among one another is so sweet, they definitely have a unique bond between them.

I just adore this shot of Mama with her little girl. Sometimes when I am embracing my own daughters, there is a wave of gratitude, of love bigger than myself that comes over me. My heart beats faster, my nose breathes in their scent. I’m just in the moment - I imagine it looks something like this second shot. I hope I caught the moment right for these two ladies.

I can’t imagine a more beautiful place for family portraits right now. This part of Ohio is teeming with a potpourri of colors in her trees. If you’re local, I hope you’ll get a chance to visit one of the more natural metro parks, the colors will take your breath away.

Thank you, “A” Family, I had a wonderful time with you all!

Autumn’s Glory | Dayton Family Photography

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of capturing two families in the morning at beautiful Hills & Dales Metro Park. I don’t think I could have chosen a more perfect fall day to view the most amazing backdrop of Autumn. Simply beautiful and breathtaking. This little pocket we took photos in was absolutely alive with color and right at its peak of leaf changing season.

Enjoy a sneak peek of a beautiful family that is also from Southern California - I think all of us were in awe of Autumn’s Glory together.

Thank you, “B” Family!

Just Us Girls | Dayton Children and family Photography

This trio met me at a nearby park last Sunday for some updated shots of just the girls. Because these girls are our neighbors and friends, it was very kick back and playful session. And really, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fall afternoon, crisp air and colorful leaves to play in. DOes life get much better than this? Well, maybe if we have some hot apple cider, too :)

Enjoy your sneak peek- thank you for waiting so patiently for it, S!

T-2 Months | Dayton Children and Family Photographer

In December, this sweet family will welcome dear ol’ dad back to the mix. You couldn’t tell from their casualness that he was missing. Of course, it was more cold than they would have liked, so they had their minds occupied in other places.

This family were the winners of the mini-session giveaway, their names were submitted because of the crazy year they’ve had with a move overseas and then dad being deployed right after arriving at Wright-Patt. AFB. I was happy to meet the “J” Family at Wegerzyn Gardens and gift them with a session. As usual with me, it was a morning of goofiness, silliness and jumping. Don’t think I just show up and take your pictures! We gotta have fun while I, ahem, work.

Just two shots tonight, I’ve got to go to bed!

Looking forward to the Party of Five shot in T-2 months :) Thank you, “J” Family!

All We Needed Was Music | Couples Photography Dayton, OH

One of my mini-sessions included a lovely couple that braved the 37 degree morning to meet me at Wegerzyn. I don’t get a lot of opportunities to shoot just couples, but if you are used to chasing two-year-olds, you can imagine how nice it might be to just ask a person to sit, stand, twirl on demand and THEY DO. Not that I was demanding, but you know, I had some ideas.

This is one of my favorite shots of the morning, just the two of them amidst the still-alive-blooms in the gardens. Beautiful flowers. Beautiful pair.

I also had them “warm up” with a little dancing action. They were probably really grateful that I didn’t sing for them, though. Nonetheless, music might have been a nice touch.

You know what’s really cool? I get to shoot this couple again with the rest of their gang this coming Saturday! Maybe I can sing to them then?

Thank you for the opportunity, S & R!!! I had a blast!
